What to Expect

We aim to respond to all inquiries within 48-72 hours. Response times may vary depending on the complexity of your question and current volume, but we read every message and make an effort to provide thorough, helpful responses.

Before You Contact Us

Here are answers to some common questions we receive. Reviewing these might save you time:

Is this calculator accurate?

The Voltage Drop Calculator uses industry-standard formulas based on the National Electrical Code (NEC) Chapter 9, Table 8 resistance values. All calculations are performed using accepted electrical engineering principles that have been standardized across the industry for decades. You can learn more about our methodology and mission on the about page. However, calculated values are theoretical estimates based on standard conditions (75°C conductor temperature). Actual voltage drop in installed wiring may differ due to temperature variations, conductor quality, connection resistance, and installation factors. For critical applications, always verify calculations with a licensed electrician or engineer.

Can I use this calculator on my website?

Linking to the Voltage Drop Calculator is always welcome and appreciated. If you'd like to embed the calculator directly into your website or include it in commercial materials, please contact us first to discuss permission and proper attribution. We're generally supportive of educational and professional uses but ask that you reach out so we can ensure proper implementation.

I found a bug

Bug reports help us improve the calculator for everyone, and we genuinely appreciate the time you take to report issues. To help us investigate and fix problems quickly, please include the following information in your message:

  • Browser and version (e.g., Chrome 120, Safari 17, Firefox 121)
  • Device and operating system (e.g., iPhone 15 with iOS 17, Windows 11 PC, MacBook with macOS Sonoma)
  • Steps to reproduce - What inputs did you enter? What actions did you take?
  • Expected vs. actual behavior - What did you expect to happen, and what actually happened?
  • Screenshots if applicable - Visual evidence helps us understand the issue faster

The more detail you provide, the faster we can identify and resolve the problem.

I have a feature request

We welcome suggestions for new features, additional calculator modes, user interface improvements, or any other enhancements you think would make the tool more useful. Some features our users have requested include additional wire gauges, metric-only mode, downloadable reports, and mobile app versions. While we can't implement every suggestion, we carefully consider all feedback and prioritize features that would benefit the most users.

Feedback Welcome

Even if you don't have a specific question or problem, we'd love to hear how you use the Voltage Drop Calculator. Are you an electrician using it on job sites? A student learning electrical principles? A solar installer sizing conductors? An engineer doing preliminary designs? Understanding how people use the tool helps us make better decisions about future development.

We also welcome corrections. If you notice an error in our calculations, formulas, or explanatory content, please let us know. Accuracy is our top priority, and we appreciate users who help us maintain high standards.
